Q: What is your sleep training philosophy?

A: Sleep training is teaching your child to put themselves to sleep independently which may or may not be met with some level of resistance. Learning new things and changing habits can be challenging- but children are capable of doing hard things! It is common for sleep training to be thought of as only letting your child cry it out. There are numerous sleep training methods that can be very gradual and parent involved or quicker and less hands on. I will always work with what feels best for you and your child and I will never suggest using a method that doesn't align with your values and goals.

Sleep training isn't just the method you choose
to implement. It starts with the foundational blocks: age appropriate schedule, optimal sleep environment, implementing routines, etc. It's when these things are in place that a sleep training method will be met with the highest rate of success.

Q: What is your stance on crying?

A: No one enjoys hearing their child cry. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a "no crying" sleep training method. There are methods that have a parent respond at any onset of their child crying however. If crying is a trigger for you, we can find ways to work through that and find a sleep training method that aligns with your needs and values!

It can be helpful to remind yourself that you are teaching your child a valuable skill. Babies and young toddlers don't have the ability yet to say in words, 'Hey, this change up in routine is not cool!" so they tell us by crying and that is okay. You as a loving, caring parent are allowed to change routines and hold boundaries in order to meet your baby's need for sleep and they are allowed to protest that change.

Q: Is sleep training safe?

A: Yes. Sleep training has been proven by evidence-based studies to be safe and to not have any negative affects on parent-child attachment.

Q: Should everyone sleep train?
A: No! If you are fine with how your child is sleeping and what you are doing to get them to sleep is working for your family then that is awesome! I am here for families who are struggling with sleep and what they are currently doing is not sustainable for them. My goal is to find what works for your family.

Q: What is your turnaround time?

A: After receiving payment I will send you the intake form to fill out. Upon your completion of the form, I will begin writing your custom sleep plan and deliver it within 3-5 days to your email along with a video presentation of the plan to explain it in detail. You will then be able to email me your questions and we will decide on a day to start implementing the plan.

Q: During support, are you available 24/7?
A: When we begin support, I will be available 7am-7pm AK time for questions and support.
